I've known him for so long but have only really recently started to know him well.

To me, he was somewhat enigmatic. I am not sure why it took us so long to connect. Maybe it's cause of when we first met. It was 1995, and there were a lot of changes happening in his life. And THANK YOU wasn't the hit they had hoped and by the time the next record rolled around he was gone. And then when he came back, it was weird, because you know, I knew him, but then again, I didn't.

I remember early on I was on an airplane with them and Simon was teaching me how to put in contact lenses. He watched but never said anything. I think I thought he didn't like me.

We never really hung out; at least not like I did with the other guys. But then I went to see him perform at the Sidewalk Café in New York City during his solo jaunt. It was on my birthday and he wished me a happy birthday from the stage. When my mom was sick and had to be in bed for awhile, he arranged for a Juicy track suit to be sent over. And then I think we sat next to each other at a dinner and admitted we never really "talked" – it sounds corny, but it was true. So we talked.

And now we talk more, and inquire how each other are doing, and bond over a certain 80s tv show and one character in particular. And how the movie of said TV Show was a disgrace and how there really could be no other person playing that role (read me Kevin?), and how Alec Baldwin is a totally underrated actor, and how he reminds me that when I first heard the song "Sexyback" I hated it and now I love it. And then, when we were in New Orleans, and he gave a student from Warren Easton School the jacket off his back, and I said "that was so nice of you" and he said "my cup runneth over Katy," I knew how lucky I was to be his friend.

I have different types of relationships with each of them. John is the one I can count on.
